This year we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the creation of our league.
On this occasion I want to organize a great bracket tournament.

Qualification are simple : email me with FibstyTenTourny in the Subject and answer these 3 questions :
- What do you think about the league in general ?
- What are you enjoing here ? The good points ?
- What is missing or can be improve ?

The Tournament will be a double-elimination bracket, with each match played as best of Five 5Pts Matchs

The First time I connected to Fibs was in 1999. I was wondering how backgammon has to be played, and the first place I found was the right place ;-). I mean FIBS.

Then I began to enjoy that game and as all off you, I was trying to improve myself. What does that mean ? Reading Articles and playing serious game with good players.

Luckily a new kind of competition was about starting : The Gammon Quest.
We played here for a while until they suddenly stop managing tourneys. I remember, I felt very frustrated and decided to run my own competition and learn about PHP.

FLG was born ...

I spent here great moments and improve a little my game ;-) over this ten years with you. I hope this tournament will be a digest of the best of these ten great years and maybe the opportunity for old players to come back and for the new ones to discover it.

Third Exhibition Match planned

This will be the third time I organise this Backgammon exhibition match at Fibs, between the winner of the FibsLeaGammon Championship in 2009 and a great name of the backgammon World.

This year the 2 players will be :
- Martin Birkhahn (aka runnerup) our 2009 Champion at Fibs with 46 win/16 loss. (Details)
- And the actual number one on the backgammon giants list and the winner of the 2009 World Championship in Monte Carlo : Masayuki Mochizuki, "Mochy".

So mark your calendar.
Date : 23th of October
Time : 13h00 UTC - 15h00 german/french time (UTC+2), 22h00 in Japan (UTC+9) - 9h00 in Washington DC
Place : Fibs (Here some explanations to connect)

This match is played just for the fun and with live comment from Mochy and Martin.
We expect also many watchers who could whisper about the game.

I will try, as I did for the 2 last matches, to post the match, live comments and analyse.

Hello, I always try and enjoy new taste and with the Riviera & Nations Cup which is coming in July, with a new kind of system for their tourney. I would love to test it at Fibs.

It certainly more complicate online with money games, to schedule them all quickly. But I think we can give it a try and if you want to take part, just let me know by mail to register in this First FLG Cashplay Tournament

As I made a mistake for session 45 : sidie was relegated to Gold from Master league instead of slipshod who had exactly the same points and tie points. Making it almost automatic, I forgot the rules state that in such a case the direct match between the two players is decisive.

I put back sidie in Master and keep slipshod who had already played 2 matches, so 4 players will go down from MasterB in session 46.

kristoffer, beofr, otto and BluNick have the same points, the same tie and except beofr who has beat the 3 others, the last three have won one match vs each other...

So, I think first to qualify beofr and the player with the biggest master points, but finaly decide to make an extra match to qualify the 2 players who will do the play-offs.

Team Match : FIBS - GAMMONZONE

We will organize a Match versus 2 of the best Free Online Tournament : GAMMONZONE and FIBS

After reflections with some others players and contact with GammonZone. We finally reach to this concept :

A team of five players from each server + two next reserved (in case of illness, no show, computer trouble etc.)
5 fibs players playing vs 5 GZ players at FIBS one day, in 9 Pts matchs (one match at a time for the watchers)
5 fibs players playing vs 5 GZ players at GAMMONZONE another day (3 months later, less or more ...), in 9 Pts matchs also.

Started at five in the afternoon, European time, perhaps on a Sunday, it would make it possible for Europeens and Americans to watch and play

The FIBS TEAM has been elected with vote as follow :

- zorba
- roadkillbooks
- TheCube

With elmicho and schigolch as joker, and me as super joker.

We now try to play this first match one sunday in september.

Sunday September 13th for the first round if everybody is ok with match starting every hour
from 3PM to 7PM GMT/UTC

We also decide by random if the first match would be play at fibs or Gammonzone.

"Falafel" Natanzon (rated no. 1 on backgammon giants list) versus Peter Schneider (Winner of the FLG 2008)

The winner of this second Fibs Masters 2008 Championship, Peter Schneider aka the juggler, has played an exhibition match versus the Giant of Backgammon number one in 2007, Matvey “Falafel” Natanzon.

This match took place at Fibs on Saturday, May 9th - 19:00 GMT.

Fibs Masters Championship 2008 Winner

2008 was another great year at FIBS.

More than 3000 matches have been played in the League.
190 players who fought to be in the last 12, for the 2008 FIBS League Masters.

The Final took place at Fibs on Monday 9 of March between juggler and
factotum.

The winner is Peter Schneider, aka the juggler winning 8-9, 9-7, 9-4 in a three 9pts matches series.

Second Fibs Masters Championship is now Open

Paul_William has lost his last chance to get in the final Bracket with the twelve best players for the Fibs Masters Championship, by losing his first round against dorbel in the last 2008 play-off. (He's the thirteenth with 103 point just behind funny who has got 104 points).

Points for the second play-off between juggler and factotum can only change the ranking of the third and fourth place.

So the second Fibs Masters Championship is now Open. Best luck to the players.

Match format for all rounds is best of three 9 pointers.

We can already applaud our last winner Dorbel who has accumulated more than 200 points and has won almost 3 matches for 4 matches played during this year in the League.
He is certainly the favorite for the Master championship trophy in 2008, but we have 11 more champions who will try to take this second trophy and play against the Giant N°1 in Backgammon : Mr Falafel.

This is the last session to get points for the race to the Fibs Masters Championship and be part of the 12 best players in 2008. Dorbel, our first winner, is far ahead and will fight to keep his trophy.
Most of the last year finalists are still on top this year. Which tries to prove that the backgammon is not a lucky game ( but we all knew that already ;-) ) and that the league proposes a competition through which the best players are rewarded.

Exhibition Game with Kit

First Exhibition Game between Paul Money (Winner of the FLG 2007) and Kit Woolsey (2008 8th BG Giants).

We had a great match tonight between Kit and Paul.

It took place at Fibs and I didn't know if it had already happened but there were about 200 players connected and almost the half of them who whatched the match.
56 players were seated and waiting at 20:00 UTC when it started, and I count no less than 80 watchers during the match ;-)

2007 Report at FLG

During 2007, FIBS was the venue for a great year of backgammon action in FibsLeague.

2222 matches were played between 191 players during the year and it ended with a final invitational tournament for the 12 best players, called the FIBS League Masters.

The Final took place at Fibs on Sunday 24 of February between dorbel and Peggels.

The winner was Paul Money, aka dorbel winning 9-5, 9-8 in a three 9pts matches series.

Kit Woolsey has accepted an invitation to play one 11 point match vs the winner as a prize for the best FIBS League player in 2007 year.

The match has been planned between Kit and Paul Sunday, 6th April at 20:00 UTC. This will be on FIBS of course.

So we expect some watchers and kibitzers during this match. And mark your calendar, I hope to see you there ;-)
